Tornado victims asks Capitol’s help

APALIT - Some 16 families in Sitio Batasan, Barangay Colgante in Apalit town whose houses were partially damaged by a tornado appealed to Governor Lilia G. Pineda for possible assistance and services from the Pampanga provincial government.

This developed even as the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Lulu Alingcastre already made the necessary coordination with the concerned municipal and provincial social welfare and development offices.

Alingcastre said that upon the office’s receipt of the situational report from Allan Odchigue, municipal disaster action officer of Apalit, on the extent of damages caused by the tornado which hit the said sitio at six o-clock in the evening last May 7, the PDRRMO immediately coordinated with the MDAO, MSWDO and the PSWDO headed by Annabel Pecina.

In her report to Vice-Governor Joseller M. Guiao and Atty. Andres S. Pangilinan, Alingcastre said that food assistance was sent to the affected families as soon as the information was received from Odchigue.

More so, upon the recommendation of the PSWDO, an emergency shelter assistance of P5,000 per family may also be extended charged to the provincial government’s five percent Calamity fund as part of the Capitol’s augmentation.

Alingcastre further informed the officials of the Capitol that the Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. of Apalit has approved the provision of P5,000 financial assistance for each of the affected families. (Pampanga PIO)
