DILG holds Tapatan roadshow on Full Disclosure

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Department of Interior and Local Government in Region III (DILG III) will hold a Tapatan roadshow on Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) entitled “Take P.A.R.T. in Good Governance” tomorrow, May 12, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Fontana, Clarkfield, Pampanga.

This was learned from Angelina S. Blanco, provincial director for Pampanga, who said that all provincial directors received a memorandum from DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dijan enjoining them to take part in the activity.

The memorandum stated that the Tapatan roadshow is in response to DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo’s directive to come up with communication strategies that will raise the level of local officials’ awareness, knowledge, acceptance, participation and compliance to the Full Disclosure Policy.

P.A.R.T. is short for Participation, Accountability, Responsiveness, Transparency in Good Governance, and is in support of President Benigno Aquino III’s call for Sama-samang Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Landas. This administration also has the policy requiring all local government units (LGUs) to post their budgets and finances, bids and public offerings in government websites, newspapers of general circulation, and in conspicuous places in their localities.

According to Dijan’s memorandum, the policies relative to the above are covered by various laws such as Section 90 of Republic Act No. 10147 or the General Appropriations Act for FY2011; section 352 of the Local Government Code of 1991; Republic Act No. 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act.

The Tapatan roadshow, according to Blanco, shall discuss in detail these provisions and shall serve as a venue to air the concerns of the participating sectors relative to the DILG’s directives and matters on local government.

Expected participants in this roadshow are governors of Central Luzon provinces, city and municipal mayors, presidents of Liga ng mga Barangay, presidents of Provincial leagues of Accountants/Treasurers/Budget Officers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), people’s organizations (POs), national government agencies (NGAs), and media practitioners in the region.
